The 2020 Landslide

The road leading to Mbetta was completely cut off by a severe landslide, leaving the residents of this area isolated from the rest of the world. Our primary objective is to make this road passable with the limited resources we have. The efforts to rebuild the bridge and restore connectivity have been ongoing and challenging.

The initial damage assessment revealed extensive destruction, with the road blocked by debris. Volunteers and workers quickly began the arduous task of clearing the debris to make way for construction. The early stages of the bridge reconstruction saw workers laying the foundation, with local residents actively participating in the efforts. As the construction progressed, the bridge slowly took shape, showcasing the determination and hard work of everyone involved. Near the final stages, the bridge structure was almost complete, highlighting the significant progress made. Finally, the completed bridge stood as a testament to the resilience and unity of the Mbetta community.

Below is a gallery of images reflecting the hard work and dedication of our team and the community as we strive to overcome this obstacle and reconnect Mbetta to the outside world. These images document the journey from devastation to recovery, illustrating our commitment to restoring access and improving the lives of those affected by the 2020 landslide

Collaborative plans are underway between our non-profit in the United States and Cameroon to construct bridges that will significantly enhance the local community. This initiative aims to improve connectivity, facilitate transportation, and foster economic development in Cameroon. By leveraging the resources and expertise from both nations, the project is poised to create lasting positive impacts for the residents in the region. Strengthening the infrastructure through bridge construction not only improves access to essential services but also promotes social cohesion and cultural exchange between the United States and Cameroon. This collaborative effort highlights the importance of international partnerships in addressing critical societal needs and advancing mutual progress.
